STURGIS - Rose Marie Hettich, 78, Sturgis, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center.

Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday March 10, 2008 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Mr. Duane Hettich and Mr. Mike Henry officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Rose was born March 6, 1930 at Deadwood, SD, to Harold and Mary Emma "Babe" (Taylor) Daane. She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1949 as the valedictorian of her class. Rose married Willard Louis Hettich on August 28, 1950 in Rapid City. After he was deployed to Germany, Rose worked as a telephone operator in Sturgis. Following Willard's discharge from the Army, they farmed south west of Roscoe. She grew a large garden and tended her flowers. When they moved off the farm, Rose worked at the Library and Museum in Aberdeen. They retired in 1988 and moved to Sturgis where she was able to enjoy her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children; Susan Hettich, Sturgis, Terry Hettich, Aberdeen, Linda (Terry) Wendt, Brookings, Marilyn (Gary) Surratt, Denver, CO, Randell (Toni) Hettich, Bath, SD, Julie Harley, Silver City; seven grandchildren, Joel, Jebediah, and TeAnna Hettich, Stacy and Jody Wendt, Crystal Genteman, and Bradley Surratt; two great granddaughters, Jacklyn Marie and Jasmine Rose Genteman; two brothers, Boyd (Marlene) Daane, Sturgis and Albert (Rose) Daane Sundance, WY.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willard in 2007, one grandson Jesse Hettich, and one infant sister, one nephew Gregory Hettich.
