Roxie was born May, 23rd, 1958 in Deadwood to Geneva and Richard Anderson. She grew up in Lead, SD and attended schools in Lead until her family moved in 1973 to Whitewood, SD. She finished her education at Sturgis High school and graduated in 1976. Upon completing high school she joined the United States Army and served from September 1977 to September of 1980 when she was honorably discharged. Roxie moved back to Rapid City and worked for United Mileage Plus, United Blood Services and currently as a CNP at Fort Meade Veterans Hospital in the Hospice Care Unit. Roxie loved working with the elderly veterans giving them special care and loved listening to their many service stories and about their lives. Roxie had a very tender heart when it came to the elderly. Roxie enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hiking, taking photos and scrapbooking. Roxie had a special place in her heart for her numerous nieces and nephews. She was always known as the fun and playful aunt and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be in our hearts forever and missed dearly.
Roxanne Rae Anderson passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 1st, 2016 at her home in Rapid City, SD.
Roxie is survived by her four sisters and one brother, Barb and Ken Grosch Sturgis, SD - Deb and Emmett Boomgaarden , St. Onge, SD - Robyn Orr, Newell, SD - Connie and Dean Weis, Whitewood, SD and Steve and Stella Anderson, Gillette, Wyoming as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Anderson, Geneva and Alfred Klein and an infant brother.
Her family is honoring her request for no service but a visitation will be 5:00 until 7 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Homestake Opera House in Lead.
