Royce was born to Leon and Ruby Edelman in Menno, SD. He went to school in Menno and Hot Springs, SD. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1976 and enjoyed his time in Germany, making a lot of friends there. He retired after working 30 years for the government.

Royce enjoyed painting and wood carving, and liked to go camping and fishing with his family.

He was married to Betty Walden from 1986 to 2003. They had one son, Cade, who lives in Sturgis.

Royce Leon Edelman, 64, Sturgis, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.

He is survived by his son, Cade Edelman, Sturgis, SD; two step-sons, Jeff (Jan) Walden, Wasilla, AK, and Stacy (Janette) Walden, Aberdeen, SD; one step-daughter, Lisa (Tom) Pekny, San Diego, CA; brother, Brian (Kathy) Edelman, Sioux City, IA; two half-brothers, Doug (Heather) Lehr and Dale (Shelly) Lehr, all of Menno, SD; eight step-grandchildren; three step-great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
