Obituary

Ruby Evelyn Gray, 92, Belle Fourche, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Spearfish Regional Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Dupree with Pastor Pauline Webb officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Dupree Cemetery.

Ruby was born July 21, 1916, in Portland, ND, to Ole F. and Myrtle (Thomas) Olsen. She attended school in Portland until the 9th grade. She moved to Lantry, SD, in 1931. Ruby married James J. Gray in Dupree, SD, on February 18, 1933. They lived south of Dupree and raised their five children. She had numerous jobs throughout her life and loved them all.

Ruby's hobbies included dancing, bowling, embroidery, sewing, music of all kinds, and traveling everywhere and anywhere. When the word "go" was mentioned, she was in the car.

Ruby was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Dupree, the United Church of Christ, and the Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include one son, Harvey (Judy) Gray, Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Lilah (Bill) Bosley, Dupree, and Pauline Davis, Red Owl, SD; one brother, Ole Olsen, Manhattan, MT; two sisters, Vivian (Dennis) Thomas and Inga Birkeland, both of Spearfish; twenty grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and honorary children who called Ruby "granny" and "mom."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, two brothers, Vernon and Thomas; two sisters, Marion Rimestad and Eleanor Weaver; one son, James Gray; and one daughter, Dorothy Mutchler.

A memorial has been established.
