Ruby Rodocker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the remarkable age of 103.

Ruby was born Ruby Elaine Sparks on January 31, 1923, in Sidney, Nebraska. She grew up on a Nebraska wheat farm with her two sisters, Ruth and Rose. She later attended Nebraska State, where she met the love of her life, Bueford Rodocker.

Their life together began while the world was changing. Bueford served in the Army during World War II, and Ruby worked several jobs, carefully saving the money he sent home. Bit by bit, she prepared for their future, saving to build a home and buy furniture. When Bueford returned from overseas, they planned to work on the family farm. Those plans changed after Ruby's father passed away, but Ruby and Bueford built their life together through determination and hard work.

Ruby and Bueford were blessed with three beautiful children: Don, Judy, and Jane. They were no strangers to adversity while raising their family. When Jane was three years old, she battled polio. During that difficult time, Ruby's sisters helped care for the family and remained a constant source of support and strength.

Ruby was an incredibly hardworking mother. She worked as a cafeteria manager at South Junior High School, a position from which she eventually retired, yet retirement never slowed her generous spirit. She made a delicious breakfast for her family every day and was a devoted Girl Scout leader who gave her time and energy to children in her community. Her generosity, determination, and willingness towork hard defined her throughout her life.

Ruby also loved adventure. She traveled around the world, experienced new places, and created memories she treasured. Yet despite all the places she visited and everything she accomplished, her greatest joy was always her family. Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue through the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her spicy, sassy self and the laughter and joy she brought; for her strength and work ethic; for her generosity and adventurous spirit; for her delicious breakfasts; for her devotion to family and friends; and, above all, for the love she gave so freely. Ruby gave so much of herself and seemed to ask for nothing in return.

Ruby was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bueford Rodocker; her daughter, Jane Rodocker; her sisters, Ruth and Rose; her brothers-in-law; her favorite son-in-law; and all of her wonderful friends.

To have known Grandma Ruby and to have shared in her 103 extraordinary years was a remarkable gift. The memories she created and the love she gave will live on in her family for generations to come.
