Ruby Berniece Scovel, 90, Sturgis, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Bella Vista Nursing Home in Rapid City.

Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kyle Reinhiller officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Ruby was born September 12, 1919, at Fairpoint, SD, to Jess and Vi (McGraw) Rogers. She grew up at Fairpoint and attended country school. She graduated from Sturgis High School. Ruby worked as a cook at the Snow White Drive In, Daisy Dell, and the Chuckwagon Café. She married Kenneth Scovel. He died in the early 1950's and Ruby married Orville Scovel in Newcastle, WY. They lived many years in Rapid City. Ruby retired in the late 1970's.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, and fishing at the river.

Survivors include one son, Harley Scovel, Rapid City; one daughter, Karen Woolever, Reedsburg, WI; one brother, Lloyd Rogers, Piedmont; three sisters, Luverne Kari, Spearfish, Inez Fries, Rapid City, and Carolyn Stubstad, Rapid City; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands.
