Russell Lee Dreyer, 72, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Hospital, Fortt Meade, SD.

Russell was born October 12, 1951, in Winner, SD to Milton and Janice (Wicks) Dreyer. He grew up in Witten, SD, loving life on the farm and graduating from Witten High School. He was previously married to Wendy Sollars-Dreyer, who now resides in Coupeville, Washington. After they separated, he met the love of his life, Jeanette, and they were together for 30 years.

He served in the US Navy during Vietnam and enjoyed telling war stories with his son-in-law, Daniel. Following his return Russell was an active member of the American Legion in Witten. He had a lifelong love of hunting (the picture shows him with his mother and his first deer!) and enjoying a Bud Light after a hard day's work.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Milton; mother, Janice; brother, Phillip; son, Christopher; and stepmother, Clarice Dreyer.

Carrying on his legacy is his wife, Jeanette; brother, Maxwell Dreyer; children, Gail, Russell, Nichole, Janice, and Robert; as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren and various cousins, siblings, and family

He loved 80's music and the last song he listened to was "Sweet Child of Mine" shortly before passing.

Burial, with military honors, will be Friday, July 5, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD. Family and friends will be meeting at 1:30 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel to proceed to the cemetery at 1:45.
