Ruth Gresham Bedingfield, 99, widow of John R. Bedingfield, Sr., died July 27, 2019, at Regional Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.
She was born August 4, 1919, in Spartanburg County, SC, to Claude H. and Belle (Hill) Gresham, but lived most of her life in Ware Shoals, SC. She graduated from Ware Shoals High School, attended Lander College and retired from the accounting department of Riegel Textile Corp. in Ware Shoals. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her three children, Dr. John R. Bedingfield, Jr. (Joyce), and Barbara Bedingfield, both of Piedmont, SD, and David Bedingfield (Susan) of Pelzer, SC; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Grits Gresham; and sisters, Edith Kelley, Martha Gresham, and Rosa Schemmel.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Foothills Community Baptist Church, exit 46, 14727 Sturgis Road, Piedmont, SD, with Pastor Robert Hower officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Hodges, SC.
Memorial gifts in honor of Ruth may be sent to the church or charity of the donor's choice.
