Muckler
Jul 24, 1929 — Apr 2, 2024
Rapid City
Ruth Edwina Muckler, 94, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Monument Health Hospice House in Rapid City.
Ruth was born July 24, 1929, to Paul R. Brandeberry and Mary Ann M. Brandeberry in Pennington County, South Dakota. She graduated high school from the Spearfish Community Junior-Senior High School of Spearfish, SD in 1947. Ruth went on to teach school, where she met her husband, Donald E. Muckler, while being housed by his family. After many evenings spent in conversation, they were wed only a few months later on April 14, 1950, in Spearfish, SD. While moving throughout the Black Hills area, they were blessed with a family of 3 daughters and 2 sons.
Ruth was active in her church community. She volunteered with Vacation Bible Schools, ladies' groups, and sponsored several missionaries. She was also well known for her skills with sewing, especially quilting. One of her quilts was purchased to be put on display in England, and she maintained correspondence with the woman who purchased it for many years. Early in their marriage, Ruth would also help Donald with flight plans for his small plane, having taken and excelled at an avionics course in high school with 3 other women.
Ruth Muckler is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Brandeberry and Mary Ann Brandeberry; her husband, Donald Muckler; her sister, Ida Mae Moorehead; brother, Paul Richard Brandeberry; her daughters, Carol Muckler and Connie Fallat; her niece, Kay Muckler; grandsons, Douglas and Daniel Bartels; and her great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Mauseth.
She is survived by her children, Susan Bartels, Jerry Muckler (wife Laura Muckler), and Jim Muckler (wife Martina Muckler); son-in-law Jerome Fallat; 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
