Ruth Teker passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2007, with her family close by.

Ruth was born to Martin and Christina (Matejak) Teker October 31, 1910, on the family homestead, near the Heart River in North Dakota. Ruth grew up and attended school in Leith, ND, and business school in Bismarck, ND. She began her career life in Chicago, IL, and then in the late 1940's she relocated to Los Angeles, CA, working for Colgate-Palmolive until her retirement. In 2000, she moved to Carlos, MN, to live with her widowed sister, Gertie Jones Weber. After Gertie passed away, she moved to Rapid City, SD, residing with her sister, Marian Schleve, and brother, Warren Teker, at what was appropriately termed the "Schleve-Teker Retirement Home."

Even though Ruth had a strong Bohemian heart, heart problems resulted in Ruth becoming a resident of Clarkson Mountain View nursing home, where she resided until her death. Although she never married, her later years were spent as part of a large, extended family. Ruth was an important and loved member, and we are grateful for the time we had together. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, spending time with her great-grand-nieces and nephew, and particularly enjoyed the companionship of the family's cats and dogs.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Martin, her sister Gertie, her nephew Darrell Jones and her niece Rhoda (Jones) Fritz.

She is survived by her sister Marian Schleve of Rapid City and her brothers, Warren of Rapid City, and Lester of Montesano, WA. Numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-grand-nieces and nephews also survive her.

Per Ruth's request, no services will be held. Inurnment will take place at a later time in Leith, ND.
