Sandy was born to Shirley and Lloyd Nohava on October 5, 1963, in Sturgis. She lived the majority of her life in Sturgis along with her older brothers, Allen and Randy. Sandy married Mike Shinost in 1983. To this marriage they had Holly.
In 1994, Marty and Sandy welcomed Beth into the world. Sandy enjoyed working for her parents, whether it was in the Bootlegger, Nohava's Gardens, or the daycare. She loved taking care of children, especially her grandchildren, Trigg and Kinley. They were her pride and joy.
Sandy was passionate about many things; decorating for holidays, planting flowers, and watching the Denver Broncos are just a few. She loved the summertime. Her favorite thing to do was go camping with friends and family. In earlier years, she had fun throwing darts. She liked to brag a little about placing in a dart tournament against all men, with her mom, Shirley.
Sandra Lynn Shinost passed away peacefully Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Left to cherish her memories are her parents, Lloyd and Shirley Nohava; brother, Randy (Brenda) Nohava; soulmate, Marty Plaggemeyer; daughters, Beth Plaggemeyer (Loren Wheeler), and Holly (Paul) Petrocco; grandchildren, Trigg and Kinley Petrocco; and many amazing uncles, aunts, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by brother, Allen Nohava; and grandparents, Stanley and Joan Nohava, Evelyn and Eddie Philipsen, and Patty Plaggemeyer.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September, 28, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Sturgis, SD, with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating. Inurnment will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
