IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Lee
Simensen
September 30, 1943 – July 12, 2012
Sandra was born September 30, 1943, at Uniontown, PA, to Sanford and Anna (Foyles) Show. Her father was in the army and was killed
shortly after her birth at the end of World War II. Her step-father was a miner in West Virginia and moved the family to Carlsbad, NM, where she
graduated from high school in 1961.
Sandra married Kenneth Simensen at Carlsbad, NM, on December 28, 1964. The couple made their home in Albuquerque until Sandra graduated from Regina School of Nursing in 1965.
The couple moved to Fargo where she worked as a nurse. They moved to Wichita, KS, where she was employed as a nurse for Sedgewick County. They moved to Miles City, MT, where she worked at Holy Rosary Hospital. In 1984, they moved to Ft. Lyon, CO, where she was employed by the Veterans Administration. She retired as a QA Coordinator from Fort Meade in 2006.
Sandra was a member of the Ft. Meade Employee Association and the Sigma Beta Phi Sorority. She was a hospice volunteer and enjoyed quilting with her church group.
Sandy loved all her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them. She was very proud of her home in Mesa, AZ, and she thoroughly
enjoyed her life in Arizona. She was involved in many organizations but always had time to make up her map for Friday afternoons and Saturday morning garage sales. Her neighbors agree she loved "garage saleing" and was always hunting for a good bargain. She loved fishing with her husband and their friends. She was an avid book reader and even listened to books on tape or CD while on long drives.
Sandra Lee (Show) Simensen, 68, Fort Pierre, peacefully passed away at home on July 12, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Survivors include her husband, Ken, Fort Pierre; son, Mark Simensen, Boise, ID; daughter, Terri Ann Tripp (Wick Carr), Spearfish; brother, John Allen, Albany, LA; sisters, Donna (Jim) Fuqua, Carlsbad, NM, and Debbie (Joe) Evenstad, Santa Teresa, NM; and three grandchildren, Brantley and Braxton Tripp, Spearfish, and Jace Simensen, Boise, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two step-fathers.
