Scott was born on October 6, 1956, in Rapid City to Richard L. and Darlyne C. "Toots" (Parkison) Smith. He was raised with horses and vicious billy goats. He graduated from Stevens High School and went on to work as a plumbing contractor and repairer of anything.
He was many things to many people, but above all, he was the ultimate dad to any kid and a wonderful story reader. He was a hobby photographer and engineer, and played the keyboards and bass guitar his whole life. Scott was a consummate learner, would answer any question you had for just a quarter, and was always game to jump on the bed. He won many awards for stage technical work, which he always enjoyed.
Scott Richard Smith, 62, died on Friday, November 16, 2018, at his home in Black Hawk.
Scott is survived by his wife, Lori Dee; children, Parker and Harrison; fur babies, Atticus, Captain Awesome, Sawyer, and Sirius; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darlyne "Toots" and Richard Smith; sister, Diane Hammer; niece, Dawn Hammer; and his beloved Jazmine, Hickey, and Towa.
A time for sharing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Oglala Pet Project or to the Battle Mountain Humane Society.
