Candy was born in Bremerton, WA, on December 17, 1944, to Isaac "Ike" and Alice (Hoffman) Stoor. The family moved back to Whitewood,
SD, in 1945.
Candy grew up in the Whitewood and Lead area. She attended school in Lead and Sturgis. On September 22, 1962, she married LaVerne Geffre of Leola, SD. They were joined with two children, Anthony "Tony" and Crystal. They lived in Oregon for two years, then returned to the Black Hills and lived in Spearfish and Lead. In 1976, they built a house on Strawberry Hill near Deadwood. The last twenty-five years, they have made there home in Whitewood.
Candy worked for the Covered Wagon and Gold Pan Pizza in Deadwood. She also worked as a substitute in the kitchens at the Spearfish and Whitewood schools for 3 years until she became too ill to work.
Candy enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and cooking and baking on her old stove. She also loved going camping and fishing, talking with friends and family, and taking long drives with her husband, looking at the beautiful scenery.
Candy loved her children and grandchildren.
Selma Marie "Candy" Geffre, 67, of Whitewood, SD, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, LaVerne Geffre of Whitewood; son, Anthony "Tony" Geffre of Gillette, WY; daughter, Crystal (Todd) Ireland of Mitchell, SD; granddaughter, Amber Ireland; grandson, Zane; two great-grandsons, Garrett and Gabriel Ireland; two sisters, Leann Wildberger of Arizona and Julie (Brent) Albrecht of Rapid City, SD; and one brother, Raymond (Debbie) Stoor of Summerset, SD
Candy was preceded in death by her mother, father, and a brother-inlaw, Larry Wildberger.
A memorial has been established.
