Sharon was born February 27, 1943, in Newcastle, WY, to Doil and Ilene (Fryer) Morgan. With her family Sharon resided in Newcastle until 1958 when her family moved to a small ranch in Redbird Canyon, SD. Sharon attended schools in Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle High School in 1961. After graduation she worked as a checker at Red Owl. Sharon married Warren Morrison, June 14, 1962, in Custer, SD. Sharon and Warren lived for a short time in Sheridan, WY, before moving to Alaska where they made their home for many years living in Petersburg, Barrow and Anchorage.

In 1985, Sharon returned to Wyoming when she divorced. She graduated from Sheridan College (1988) and the University of Wyoming (1990) receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Sharon received academic scholarships for her excellent academic achievements. She was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, NationalHonorary Fraternity, at Sheridan College and Phi Kappa Phi, International Honor Society in Education, at the University of Wyoming.

Sharon did herstudent teaching at Kitty Moats School in Osage, WY. She had Elementary Teaching Certificates in Wyoming and South Dakota. Sharon taught elementary grades in Native American Schools in South Dakota at Loneman School, Porcupine School, and Lower Brule Elementary School for several years. Sharon's love of children was always evident, and her eight nieces and nephews as well as the many students she taught always brightened her world.

Sharon enjoyed traveling, especially in Alaska. She was an avid reader, loved shopping, collecting antiques, especially antique glassware, and spending time with family. After returning to Newcastle, Sharon suffered a stroke in 2004. After a long convalescence she was able to live independently for many years. Due to failing health Sharon resided at Weston County Manor the past couple of years.

Sharon Lee (Morgan) Morrison, 74, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at Weston County Manor.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Larry Morgan, Spearfish, SD; sister, Judy Scott, Newcastle, WY; aunts, June Mann, Newcastle, WY, and Helen Fryer, Billings, MT; uncle, Richard (Shirlene) Fryer, Idaho Falls, ID; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Vern) Meyer, Sturgis, SD; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Doil and Ilene Morgan, grandparents, brother, Dennis R. Morgan, brother-in-law, David Scott, sister-in-law, Sandra Morgan, and numerous aunts, and uncles.

Graveside rites will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle with Reverend Ron Sample officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Weston County Senior Citizens Center's Meals-on-Wheels Program.
