Sharon Rose Oedekoven, 62, Sturgis, died Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Visitation will be Monday from noon to 8:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 6 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Sturgis Church of Christ with Chris Nelson and Jerry Savage officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Sharon was born July 20, 1946, in Sturgis, SD, to Vernon Peter and Elsie (Smith) Oedekoven. She grew up in the rural Nine Mile Creek area and attended Nine Mile Country School. She graduated from High School in 1965 in Newell, SD. Sharon attended two years at National School of Business in Rapid City, SD. Sharon lived in Council Bluff for a number of years. She worked in health care and food service for many years.

Sharon was a member of the Northern Hills Church of Christ and the Sturgis Church of Christ. She volunteered at the Mustard Seed Christian School in Belle Fourche. Sharon was also a member of the Friendly Club after moving to Sturgis in August 2006. Sharon helped with the Grandparent Program in the Sturgis schools in the 2006-2007 school year.

Survivors include her mother, Elsie Oedekoven, Sturgis; one brother, Wayne (Carol) Oedekoven, Vale, SD; and one sister, Holly Jo (David) Mielke, Belle Fourche, SD; and two nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials have been established to the Northern Hills Church of Christ and the Sturgis Church of Christ.
