Sharon was born March 10, 1948, in Hoven, SD, to John and Patricia (Breen) Palon. She attended grade school at St. Martin's and graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1966. She then went to National College of Business in Rapid City and graduated in 1968.

Sharon married Lawrence Piekkola September 4, 1971.

After graduating from Business School, Sharon moved to Minnesota where she worked for an insurance company for one year then moved to Denver where she worked at Gates Rubber Company. Sharon moved back to Sturgis. She and her dad built her own house in Sturgis. She worked at Cenex as a bookkeeper. She moved to Rapid City to be closer to Pat and Mike and her grandchildren. She worked at Pro Rental until her retirement. Sharon was a true-blue Bronco's fan.

Sharon Kathryn (Palon) Piekkola, 69, Sturgis, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

She is survived by her children; son, Pat (Deanna) and children, Dean and Brad; son, Mike and children, Hannah, Ashton, and Abby; and daughter, Lisa (Rich) Hestera-Loffelmacher and children, Lauren and Riley; one sister, Phyllis (Jake) Keffeler; and nephews, Troy, Kurt, and Bryan Keffeler and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and mother-in-law.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A private family burial will be held at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Rapid City.
