Obituary

Sheryl Ann Sullivan Starnes, age 75, died peacefully at home on June 14, 2013, after a courageous 26 year battle with cancer.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.

She was born in Lakewood, Ohio on February 28, 1938, to LaVerne Francis (Metzner) and Heman Addison "Sully" Sullivan.

After graduating from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, she worked as an electrical engineer for AT&T. She resigned to raise her family and to start a lifetime of volunteering. In her 31 years with Girl Scouts, she has held every volunteer position from Brownie Leader, Day-camp Director, Neighborhood Chairman, to Governing Board of Directors.

After scouting, she volunteered as a docent at the Journey Museum starting on the first day it opened. She has worked for Girl's Club, Inc. and most recently volunteered as a docent at the Dahl Art Center.

She enjoyed the arts, calligraphy, gardening, reading, and travelling. She looked forward to getting together with her high school friends during their class reunions and especially looked forward to her annual travel with lifelong friends from Cincinnati, Ohio. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bill, and her daughters Terri Beutel, Davenport, Iowa, and Traci Holz, Rapid City, South Dakota. She has six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial is being established at Storybook Island, where she spent many fun filled years with her children, grandchildren, and most recently with her great-grandchild.
