Shirley Ilene Anderson, 69, Piedmont, SD, died Monday, January 1, 2007, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel with the family present. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont with Pastor Steve Trefz officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Shirley was born March 3, 1937, at Burwell, NE, to Hersil and Lorraine (Eddy) Sprague. She grew up in the Dupree area and graduated from Newell High School. She married Roy Anderson, May 18, 1955, at Dupree. The couple farmed and ranched North of Dupree until 1990. They moved to Piedmont, SD. Shirley worked in the sewing factory at Black Hills Special Services for several years.

Survivors include her husband Roy Anderson, Piedmont; two daughters, Deb Maxwell, Piedmont, SD, Carmen (Ken) Miller, Draper, SD; three sons, Bernie (Judy) Anderson, Dupree, SD, Jim (Julie) Anderson, Chamberlain, SD, Randy Anderson, Hastings, NE; mother, Lorraine Sprague, Newell, SD; two sisters, Pearl Geis, Belle Fourche, Nancy Barnum, Lander, WY; three brothers, Dale Sprague, Mud Butte, SD, Gary Sprague, Newell, SD, Lyle Sprague, Nisland, SD; also fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Carol Alvarez; and a brother, Lou Sprague.

A memorial has been established to a local Cancer Fund.
