After her husband's death in 1990, she moved to Rapid City where she was employed by the American Cancer Society. After the local office closed, she relocated to Sioux Falls where she continued to work for the American Cancer Society until 1998. She returned to Rapid City after retirement. She had recently moved to Belle Fourche to live near family.
