Sona Lynn Cook, 46, Sturgis, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Sona was born February 27, 1962, in Fort Collins, CO, to Gary and Georgia (Wood) Stansbury. She was raised in Colorado and Nebraska. The family moved to Sturgis in the early 1990's. Sona worked for many years as a cake decorator at Lynn's and truly loved her job. She was very proud that she had won 3rd place in a cake decorating competition in Minnesota.

She enjoyed being outdoors, especially camping and fishing. She had a deep love of animals and nature in general. Sona will miss her other love, her grandson, Isaiah. She was a very giving person and would go the extra mile for anyone.

Survivors include her mother, Georgia Stansbury, Sturgis; her son, Isaac (Robin) Stansbury, Sturgis; two brothers, Miles (Viki) Stansbury and Lance (Kim) Stansbury, all of Sturgis; one grandson, Isaiah Stansbury; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Scott Stansbury.

A memorial has been established.
