Sturgis ~ Steven Paul Cady, 63, of Sturgis, died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Sturgis Regional Hospital. He was born December 14, 1949, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Eugene and Darlene Shakstad) Cady. Steve attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls and also Black Hills State College with an emphasis in English and Technology. He was a lover of baseball, and a lover of music, he had for a short time a Band called the Sandpipers. He belonged to an independent "Jacket" club called the Disciples. He lived on both coasts in Connecticut and California in the years before meeting and marrying his wife, Marietta (Cookie) Mongioi of 40 years in Ft. Collins, Co. He worked for the Parks Department in Spearfish, SD for almost a decade. Steve was an activist for Arbor Day Programs, and he designed the playground you see in Spearfish City Park today. Premier Paint Contracting was his thriving independent business for 15 years as Iverson Construction's primary subcontractor for painting in Sturgis. He was well loved and respected on a business and personal level. A selfless and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, although modest and humble of his own talents, they were and are recognized by many. Survivors include his wife, Marietta (Cookie)Cady; two sons, Christopher and Mike Guigliano; three brothers, Chuck (Gerry) Cady, Gary (Kevin) Cady and Waryd (Karen) Cady; one sister, Lora (Mark) Boyum; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, March 14, 2013, with a Christian Wake Service to follow at Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am, Friday, March 15, 2013, at St Francis of Assisi Church in Sturgis with Fr. Arnold Kari presiding.
