Steven Dennis Geyer was born on January 8, 1954, in Kingsbury, SD to parents; Rudolph (Rudy) and Helga Geyer. He attended school in SD and Indiana, graduating from high school in Indiana. Steven returned to SD to attend college at BH State University. He pursued his career in restaurant management which took him to many different states.
Steve and Peggy were united in marriage on January 29, 1983. From this union, they were blessed with a son, Steven Jr. Together with all their children, Johnny, twins; David and Daniel and Leona (lovingly referred to as "Noni") and Steven Jr., they enjoyed their experiences traveling. For a period of time, they resided in Sturgis, helping manage the restaurant "Chef Rudy's," also in Sturgis. After the passing of Steve's father, they decided to settle in NC in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where they lived at the time of Steve's passing. The last three years of Steve's life were disrupted as he learned of a terminal lung disease that took a tremendous toll on his health and eventually ending in his death.
Steven D. Geyer passed away peacefully at his home on January 22, 2025. Thankful and blessed to have shared his life with him are his wife of nearly forty years, Peggy Geyer of Hendersonville, NC, sons; Johnny Ross (Corrina) of Sturgis, SD, Daniel Ross of Hendersonville, NC, Steven Geyer Jr. (Bobbi) also of Hendersonville, NC, daughter; Leona Ross of Palm Bay, Florida, brothers; David Geyer (Marcee) of Colorado Springs, CO, Bill Geyer (Helen) of Sioux Falls, SD, Peter Monford (Beth) of Texas, sister; Heidi Baldwin (Gary) of Phoenix, AZ and Aunt; Beverly Geyer of SD. He is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Candy Morrell, brothers-in-law; Claude Hise (Laurie), Bruce Hise, Wayne Hise (Kris), Jamey Hise (Lorrie).
Steve was proceeded in death by his parents; Rudy Geyer and Helga Monford, his in-laws; Shirley and Leonard Hise, Vernon and Sharon Ross, son; David Ross, infant grandson; Gavin Ross, niece; Denise Ross, uncle; Ernie Geyer, sisters-in-law; Caddie Nelson, Mary Ann Remer, and Gail Hise, brothers-in-law; Rory Hise, Larry Morrell and Gary Nelson.
Death does not take our memories of Steve, for we hold them in our hearts until we meet again for eternity.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Monday August 18th at 1:00pm, at Believers Fellowship, 180 Old Stone Road in Sturgis, SD with Pastor John P. Williamson officiating. The family of Steve invites all family and friends to fellowship and a potluck following the service at the Sturgis Gazebo Park Shelter on East Lazelle Street in Sturgis.
