Steven Llewellyn Gruetzmacher, 70, of New Underwood, SD, died Thursday, March 14, 2019, at his place of residence.
Steve was born October 29, 1948 in Madison, WI, to Llewellyn "Jim" and Alleda (Nelson-Lützow) Gruetzmacher. He graduated from East High School, Rockford, IL, in 1966.
Steve served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching football. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Steve is survived by his two children, Mark Gruetzmacher of Box Elder, SD, and Melissa (Gruetzmacher) Carr, of Royse City, TX; 5 grandchildren, Samantha (Williams Carr) Deblauw, Landen Carr, Kaitlin Carr, Austin Gruetzmacher, and Connor Gruetzmacher; 1 great-grandchild, Oakley Williams, and great-grandchild #2 is on the way; 6 siblings, Lonnie Lützow, Darcell Lützow-Kothe, Marcell Lützow-Patmythes, Cindy (Gruetzmacher) Sheldon, Mike Gruetzmacher, and Sherry (Gruetzmacher) Held; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2019 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
