Martin, SD - Steven Hanson, 54 of Martin and formally from Sturgis, passed away on May 4, 2012, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born August 16, 1957 in Mitchell, South Dakota to DeWayne and Carol (Clark) Hanson. On March 31, 2007 he married the love of his life, Rona Collins and they spent five joyful years together. He loved to fish, golf and ride his Harley. He also enjoyed making people laugh and brightened up any room with his presence. He loved his grandchildren more than anything; they were the apple of his eye. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Rona Hanson, Martin; a son, Kolton Hanson, Sturgis; seven daughters, Alissa (Dustin) Hanson, Sioux Falls, Kelsey Hanson, Pierre, Ashley (Mike) Harmon, Pierre, Cassie (Chad) Taylor, Becca (Kody) Cornett, Sturgis, Destiny (Hank) Cornett and Angie (Anthony) Muller; a sister, Sue Hanson, Mitchell; a brother, Stewart (JoLynn) Hanson; his parents, DeWayne and Carol Hanson, Mitchell; grandchildren, Emma, Jacob, Sara, Gaven, Gaige, Sylvan, Destin, Malaya and Ainsley. He was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Hanson. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, at the funeral home with the Rev. Harold Delbridge officiating. Pallbearers will be Colton Hanson, Mike Harmon, Dustin Dougherty, Anthony Muller, Chad Kent, Kody Dejean, Hank Knutson, Kenny Krause, Jeff Peterson, Dan Hankerson and Michael Myers. A gathering of friends and family will follow the service at 7615 Dorothy Drive (Wonderland Homes) in Black Hawk. Graveside Service for Steven will be Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2pm at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
