Steven M. Lehi was born to Michael W. and Lillian R. (Stark) Lehi May 8, 1950 in Sturgis, SD. He died at home in Hot Springs, SD, November 29, 2023. A full military honor service was held at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis on December 6, 2023.

Steve enlisted in the navy after graduation from William Brown High in Sturgis. IC2 Lehi "Active Time" included three deployments to Vietnam, with his last two being aboard a patrol Gunboat, home ported on Guam M.I.

He invested in educational opportunities that vested him several degrees: Associate of Applied Science (AAS) from Eastern Wyoming College at Torrington, Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts in Education (MA) from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska. Steve was employed in a number of skill sets throughout his lifetime: Ma Bell Telephone, Peoples Telephone, Sears, Burlington Northern Railroad, Veterans Administration, Bureau of Land Management, Collbran Job Corps and Wahlstrom Ford.

He was a Christian and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Steve was a generous and caring friend and husband. He spent many hours doing yard work and making cookies for friends and neighbors.

Steve is survived by his wife, Wendy (McManigal) Lehi; his two brothers, Jim (Judy) Lehi and Jerry Lehi; his three sisters, Roxie (Bob) Monnens, Debra (Jim) Olson, and Kit Longland; nephews, Frank, Toby, Jeremy, Donavan and David; nieces, Jennifer, Brandy, April, Kim and Melanie, and many great nephews and great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Don Longland.
