Steven Lee Solberg, 51, former, longtime Brule resident, currently of South Dakota, died from injuries sustained in a one car-accident north of Rapid City, S.D. on Monday, Dec. 18.
Solberg was born in Duluth Oct. 18, 1955 to Carl and Mary Ann (Johnson) Solberg. He graduated from high school in Anoka, Minn. and had been a self-employed painter and taper in the Brule area for many years before moving to South Dakota a little over a year ago.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Oulu, and Brule River Lions Club and was one of the founders of the Waino Riders Snowmobile Club.
Survivors are: son, Chad Solberg, Poplar; Michele Solberg, Poplar; parents of Brule; sister Sherri (John) Ekker, Big Lake, Minn.; brothers Scott (Bonnie) Solberg, Coon Rapids, Minn., Robert (Lisa) Solberg, Turtle Lake; Michael (Stefanie) Solberg, St. Francis, Minn. and John Solberg, Isanti, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; two aunts and one uncle; and a special friend, Jane Smeenk, Vale, S.D.
A funeral service was in Hope Lutheran Church, Oulu, Pastor Scott Stai officiating. Interment was in Everrest Cemetery, Waino.
