Sue Smith passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at her home in Sturgis, SD. She was 73.
Sue was born on November 7, 1947 in Belle Fourche, SD and was raised in Cheyenne, WY. She received her LPN license in Laramie, WY, and worked in Cheyenne and Torrington, WY.
Her favorite place was the Black Hills, and she returned there in the mid 90s. She enjoyed fishing and camping, and would fish rain or shine. She lived in Vale, SD for 23 years. There she joined the Vale Community Country Church, which she considered her second family. She had served there as a deacon and secretary, and also enjoyed helping with the many activities within the church. She looked forward to each August, when she would help with the Rally breakfasts. In 2018, she moved to Sturgis to live with her daughter, Amanda.
Sue is preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Kyle; son, Jayson Blea; and her parents, Edward and Bessie Marenda.
She is survived by her children, Audrey, Erik (Cindy), and Amanda (Harley); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Judy (Phil), David (Franny), Bonnie, and Darrel (Joan).
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 20201 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Rev. Darla Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.
