Susan Lorraine Shipman, 59, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, February 2, 2020 peacefully in Gillette, WY after a hard battle with cancer.

Susan is survived by her daughters, Jamie Kirkland, Ashley Irizarry, and Lindsey Garza; her 16 grandchildren; her 2 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Karen Parr and Diana Carnell; her brothers, Max, Rob, and Brian Barnard; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is proceeded by her father, Russell Barnard; mother, Maxine Barnard; husband, Jerry Shipman; brother, Bill Barnard; and her daughter, Danielle Garcia.

To her daughters Susan was known for being a strong, caring mother and the "best girlfriend in the whole wide world friend". She will be greatly missed and loved by her many grandchildren, who adored that she was not the typical cookie cutter grandmother. The memories that they hold on to are priceless. Susan was a correctional officer for over 20 years and was known playfully as "Sarge" to those close to her during and after her career at Hendry Correctional Institution.

There will not be a memorial service but it is only befitting that the carefree outlaw's arrangements be handled in the Blackhills of Sturgis, SD. Please leave condolences and memories here on her memorial page for the family to read.
