IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teresa Ramona
Lebeau
September 16, 1933 – February 7, 2016
Teresa was born September 16, 1933, to Johnson and Eudora (Traversie) LeBeau at Promise, SD. She grew up near the Moreau and Missouri rivers where her childhood home now lies under Lake Oahe. As one of the youngest of a large family she was doted on by her many older brothers and sisters.
Ramona attended St. Joseph's Indian School at Chamberlain, SD, and the Immaculate Conception Indian Mission at Stephan. Her junior and senior high school years were spent at St. Martin's Academy in Sturgis, SD. While attending St. Martin's, Ramona stayed with the DeMersseman family of Sturgis, whom she lovingly called her second family. After graduating high school, Ramona attended Business College in Rapid City, S.D.
Ramona worked for United Sioux Tribes, Aaron Swan & Associates, and eventually retired from the State of South Dakota.
A maker of beautiful things, Ramona was an accomplished seamstress and talented quilter producing heirloom quality quilts for family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for family, friends, and neighbors; who could always find a special treat waiting for them.
