Obituary

Teresa Sigman was born December 7, 1957 to Jim and Peggy (Horton )Sigman at Deadwood, SD. At the age of five she attended the Crippled Children's Hospital and School in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1965, Teresa, along with her twin, Teena, were poster children for the Easter Seal Society of South Dakota where they represented our State, going to various functions such as teas with the Governor. She remained at the School for seven years. Her mother home schooled her on the family ranch in Bear Butte Valley where she was involved in an exercise program.

Teresa graduated from Brown High School in 1977. She attended Southwest State College. She moved to Rapid City where she made her home. Teresa loved to volunteer. She was very active in the handicap arena where she served on the board of Developmental Disabilities from 1993 to 1996. She attended a School Program called Partners in Policy Making in 1996. Teresa was always willing to help anyone she could. Because of her health, she made her home at a local Care Center in Rapid City. Her religion was very important to her. She was an avid angel collector, she loved to write, listen to music, watch videos, visit with friends and family.

Her survivors include her father, Jim Sigman, rural Sturgis; brother, Bryce (Sandi) Sigman, rural Sturgis; two sisters, Bekki Reinert, Wall and twin sister Teena Sigman, Sturgis; two nephews, Casey Reinert, Arizona and Cole (Jill) Reinert, rural Wall; three nieces, Breezy (Jon) Millar, and Cassie (Tyler) Hicks both of Sturgis, and Tabitha (Jess) Harris, Hot Springs; six great nieces and five great nephews and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her Grandparents, Mother, Brother and six Cousins.

Teresa, 56, Rapid City, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating. Internment follows at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

Memorials have been established to the Rapid City Transportation Department for Dial-A-Ride and Toys-for-Tots in the hills area.
