Obituary

Terry Dale Rose, 65, passed away on March 19, 2012, at the Ft. Meade VA hospital from heart failure.

He was born November 25, 1946, at Gordon, NE, to Richard Ferguson and Delores Ferguson. His mother later married Richard Rose and Terry was adopted by Richard Rose. The Rose family operated the Rose Spring trout hatchery at Martin, SD. The Rose family consisted of one other brother, Richard "Dickie" Rose.

After graduating from Martin high school, he joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969. He pursued a variety of careers during his life including Homestake Mine, Sturgis Police Department, Meade County Sheriff Deputy, and Ft. Meade VA Police. He retired from the VA in 1998. He then owned and operated R & S Construction, and TD's Bait & Tackle.

Terry married Carmen Barth in 1970. They had two sons. They were divorced and Terry married twice more during his lifetime, the final marriage to his high school sweetheart Lucille Nelson in 1990, and she was a devoted wife at the time of his death.

Terry is survived by his wife, Lucille; sons, Patrick Rose of Rapid City, Michael Rose of Springfield, and Casey Croop of Sioux Falls; and siblings, Dickie Rose, Randy Ferguson, Rick Ferguson, Valerie Brazier, and Virginia Tall Mann. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Terry enjoyed outside activities such as hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a lifetime member of the DAV.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kathi Rein Petersen.

Memorial services will be held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, South Dakota, on March 28, 2012, at 1:00 PM. Graveside committal rites will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard. A reception will follow at the Sturgis VFW.
