Thelma Mae Heaton, 88, White Owl, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Central Meade County Community Center in Union Center, SD on Monday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Community Center with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial follows at the White Owl Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the White Owl Hall.
Thelma was born March 13, 1924 at Mitchell, SD, to Jess and Agnes (Halverson) Raymond. She grew up on the family farm north of Union Center where she attended Sunshine Rural School.
Thelma married Wesley Heaton on May 9, 1943, at Union Center. They spent the first year of married life working as sheep herders for a neighbor and living in a sheep wagon.
They lived on their ranch north of White Owl. To this union five sons were born.
Throughout her life on the ranch, Thelma enjoyed spending time fishing and camping with family, and also helping with lambing season and always taking care of her chickens.
Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, David (Phyllis) Heaton, Sturgis, Mervyn (Dotty) Heaton, Redfield, SD, Dennis (Sandi) Heaton, Midland, SD, Roger (Cindy) Heaton, Sundance, WY, Dale Heaton, White Owl; also 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, John Raymond.
