Thelma A. McGinnis, 78, Sturgis, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.

Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge and Mr. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Memorials have been established to the Faith Education Trust and the Lippold Hospice Suite.

Thelma was born July 18, 1930 at Bixby, SD, to Kenneth and Zelda (Deming) Day. She attended Bixby Grade School, Faith High School and Western Dakota Vo-Tech.

Thelma married Roy C. McGinnis at Sturgis on June 23, 1948.

Survivors include her sons Clifford McGinnis, Faith; Calvin (Bonnie) McGinnis, Sturgis, Gordon McGinnis, Sioux Falls; daughters, Arlene (Kenneth) Koon, Haines, OR, Bonnie McGinnis, Sioux Falls, Zelda (Paul) Schlobohm, Aurora, SD; also seven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, one son Darrell, her parents, one sister, Ramona; brothers, Burdette and Glenn Day.
