Obituary

Theodore "Teddy" Charles Mahaffy was born September 4, 1934, in Rapid City, SD, to Theodore E. and Marie (Foote) Mahaffy. He grew up on the family ranch near Marcus, SD, on Sulphur Creek. He attended local country schools.

He married the love of his life, Ann Ingalls, on December 1, 1956, and together they raised six children. They ranched for 60 years. Along the way, he worked construction jobs, drove gravel trucks, and hauled sugar beets. He moved to Sturgis in 1998 where he worked in maintenance, until he retired due to health reasons. In 2012, they moved to the Newell area to his son's ranch, back in the country again where he loved to be. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends, shooting prairie dogs, and spending time in his side by side enjoying the outdoors.

Teddy was a member of the Sturgis Church of Christ.

Teddy, 82, was surrounded by his family when he went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 15, 2017. He loved to laugh and make you laugh with his quick wit and teasing nature.

Blessed to share his life are his wife of 60 years, Ann; his six children, D'Anna (LaVern) Fischer and Yvonne (Bob) Barry, both of Sturgis, Ronnie (Vonda) Mahaffy and Lonnie (Melissa) Mahaffy, both near Newell, and Dean (Sierra) Mahaffy and Dale (Amanda) Mahaffy, both near Sturgis; brother, Terry (Valerie) Mahaffy of Nemo; sisters, Kathy (Arnold) Williams of Baker City, OR, and Inez (Butch) Jibben of Nemo; sister-in-law, Nadene Mahaffy; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many, many, many George's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Marie Mahaffy; one brother, Duane Mahaffy; and one granddaughter, Anna Westberg.

Visitation will be Monday, May 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at LifeSpring Wesleyan Church in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Meade County 4-H Building Fund.
