Thomas Craig Burdick, 72, of Rapid City, SD, died Monday, September 13, 2021, at Monument Health Rapid City hospital.

Tom was born on December 4, 1948, in Sturgis, SD, to Leo and Kathleen (Ramsdell) Burdick. Tom was raised on a ranch outside of town with his four sisters; Kathy, Roxie, Dixie, and Cindy.

After High School Tom joined the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. Tom was married to Vicky (Hansen) in 1973, and later divorced. They had a son, Ryan Burdick, in Nuremburg, Germany in October 1973.

Tom met his soul mate, Myrna Laumbach in May 2003, and they were married on April 19, 2013. They built a house in Rapid City, SD. When they retired, they sold the house, bought a truck and camper and spent the last years traveling and enjoying all this country has to offer. They would travel from SD, to the East or West coast and then down to Texas to spend the winter with friends and family playing volleyball and dancing.

In the spring they would travel back to SD, on various routes and then in the fall head back to Texas. Tom loved to travel and take pictures of the places they visited. Tom also loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and being around friends and family.

Survivors include: mother, Kathleen Meyer in Belle Fourche, SD; wife, Myrna (Laumbach) Burdick in Rapid City, SD; son, Ryan (Laura) Burdick in Deadwood, SD; granddaughter, Faith Burdick in Lititz, PA; sisters, Kathy (Dan) Rhoden in Newell, SD, Roxie McQuilken in Lake Whales, FL, Dixie Davis in Miles City, MT, and Cindy (Norman) Long in Casper, WY; in addition to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Leo Burdick.

Committal services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors.
