Obituary

Thomas Joseph Charron, 59, Sturgis, SD, passed away suddenly at home on December 6, 2016.

Tom was born February 2, 1957, at Gettysburg Memorial Hospital in Gettysburg, SD, to Jack and Maurine (Miesen) Charron of Seneca, SD. He attended Seneca Grade School and graduated from Faulkton High School. His early years were filled with hunting, fishing, baseball, track, wrestling, and helping his Dad with the Texaco Bulk business.

Following graduation, Tom operated the Texaco Station in Faulkton. He then became a managing partner of Charron's Steakhouse at Pickerel Lake, where many memories were made with friends and family. In the years following, Tom became the Food Service Manager for IBP (Tyson Foods), residing in multiple states. When his first grandchild was born, he relocated to the Black Hills area to be closer to family. Once in the Black Hills area, Tom followed his passion for the food industry by managing several restaurants and most recently, owned and operated Charron's Catering, the best food in the Hills.

No stronger bond ever existed than there was between Tom and his daughter, Liza, who was born July 8, 1977. Tom was at his happiest while spending time camping, fishing, cooking, and watching football with Liza, Chad, Shae and Jace. Tom had a "heart of gold," which was obvious to anyone that ever had the privilege of meeting him. He was a very generous man and would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone. He was a great storyteller, host, and entertainer. He loved people, and we all knew his favorite word was "HUUUUUGE," which is how he lived his life.

Tom is survived by his mother, Maurine; his daughter, Liza and her husband, Chad Owens; grandsons, Shae and Jace; brothers, Steve (Sheila) and Dave (Bonnie); sisters, Kathy Jeffries (Ron) and Jane Bryant (Keith); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Jack; maternal grandparents, Edward and Catherine Miesen; and paternal grandparents, Wilfred and Dorothy Charron.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 12, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
