Thomas Matthew Olson, 93, passed away July 24, 2024, at Avantara Mountain View in Rapid City.

Thomas Matthew Olson was born February 25, 1931, in Bowman, North Dakota to Olaf Eli and Hallie Elizabeth (Haivala) Olson. Tom grew up on the Olson Ranch near Buffalo, SD and he attended grade school and high school in Buffalo. In 1962 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Tom served in the US Marines, Korean War, from 1951-1954.

He was married to Phyllis McKennett from 1957-1982, Together they had two sons, Warren Mark and Dennis Robert. Tom worked for Montana Dakota Utilities and the City of Rapid City until he went into construction. He owned Circle Construction until his retirement in 1988.

Tom is survived by his son, Dennis Olson of Rapid City and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Olson of Venice Beach, California.
