Thomas Ryan Seaman was born on August 16, 1956, to Don and Phillis Seaman of Newell, SD. Tom was the baby of 5 boys and Phillis knew he would be one of a kind. Tom was a fun loving, giggling, little ball of fire. Tom always had a funny story to share such as jumping out of the top of the hay loft with his older brothers. Tom went to Newell School competing in many sports like Basketball, and Rodeo, and activities like FFA. After graduation, Tom went to Western Dakota Tech for History and Ag. He enjoyed his younger years with various buddies, razzing people and joking around, skiing Terry Peak, going to random barn dances, and playing the guitar and singing. Tom also hauled mail from Sturgis all the way out to Mud Butte for many years.

On April 25, 1987, Tom married his loving wife, Karen Seaman, where they resided in Sturgis for over 10 years. During this time, they welcomed into the world 3 children: Jessica Marie, Sunny Sha Rae, and J.C. Ray. Tom and Karen hayed land Southeast of Newell and ran sheep while living on a small ranchette just North of Sturgis. They loved the ranch life and through sweat, sacrifice and much praying they inevitably fulfilled their dream by purchasing "Lakeview Ranch." Here they raised their 3 children.

Tom was always one to appreciate the small things. Lambing, early morning bailing, a good cup of coffee (with cream and honey of course), deer hunting with his son, working alongside his wife, and later, enjoying his grandkids were some of his dearest joys. He never said no to some good Orman fishing, a campfire, and a beautiful sunrise over the lake outside their window. He always found the beauty in the smallest blessings and appreciated the simplicity of the birds chirping, the smell of fresh cut alfalfa, and the sheep grazing in the meadow. Tom's laugh, big grin, and joking demeanor brought happiness to many. He never went anywhere he didn't know someone including the gas station (no matter the zip code).

Thomas Ryan Seaman passed away in his home surrounded by his devout wife and children on January 10, 2022. Tom will be greatly missed by so many hearts that he touched.

Tom is survived by his spouse of 34 years Karen, daughters, Jessica (Hayes) Bean of Newell, SD, Sunny (Anthony) Pesicka of Faith, SD; and son, J.C. Seaman of Newell, SD; grandchildren, Mavis, Evelynn, McCoy, Koraline, Archer, and Rhett; father, Donald Seaman; 4 brothers and spouses; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Phillis Seaman, and many late aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis, SD. Rosary to begin at 8:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Newell, SD.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Newell, SD. Interment to follow at Seaman Family Ranch Cemetery at Lakeview Ranch the Seaman residence.
