Thurlo Frank Jensen passed away at his home in Spearfish on Sunday, July 29, 2012 surrounded by his family.

Thurlo was born April 19, 1924, to Frank H. Jensen and Bertha (Lorenz) Jensen at Putney, SD. He lived most of his life on the farm. He married Albertine (Simon) November 8, 1947, at Webster, SD. They moved to Chicago Heights and lived there until 1949 when they moved to Owanka, SD, and resided on a farm-ranch in the community known as Lakeside. This is where he raised his family of three girls, Sharon (Bob) Mayer of Rapid City, Janette (Dennis) Jensen of Oklahoma, Julie (Joseph) Pekron of Hot Springs, SD, and four boys, Steve, (Kathy) Jensen of Sturgis, SD, Mark(Fleda) Jensen of Spearfish, Rodger Jensen of Buffalo Gap, SD, and Greg (Kim) Jensen of Parks, NE.

In 1979, he sold the farm and moved to Spearfish at West Acres. He worked for the US Forest Service for 20 years. He enjoyed carpentry building picnic tables, outside furniture, bird houses, etc.

He is survived by his wife, Albertine; his children; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Cora Kurtz of Aberdeen, SD; two sisters-in-law, Hertha Jensen Aberdeen, SD, and Violet Jensen Chicago, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 12 siblings, Dora Ellinson, Laura Painsulat, Retha Vik, LeRoy Jensen, Ben Jensen, Fred Jensen, George Jensen, Oscar Jensen, Gus Jensen, Norman Jensen, Loretta Jensen and Melvin Jensen; and one grandson, Aaron Jensen.

Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in Spearfish at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 846 N 7th St. Spearfish, SD. Luncheon will be served by the St. Paul Ladies. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Interstate 90, Exit 90 then 5 miles north @ 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012. Refreshments will be served at Wicksville Community Church immediately following the burial services.

A memorial has been established to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Spearfish.
