STURGIS - Udell Kenneth Peterson, 75, Sturgis, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Rapid City Regional Health Care Center.

Visitation will be noon until 9 pm at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A Vigil service begins at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Salem.

Udell was born September 11, 1932 at Irene, SD, to Earl and Sophie (Brandon) Peterson. He graduated from High School, married Janella Stoffel at Salem, SD, on July 8, 1957. Udell was employed by the SD Department of Transportation for 37 years. They lived in Beresford, Sturgis, Belle Fourche and Rapid City. Udell was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Lodge in Apache Junction, AZ, the Moose Lodge in Mesa, AZ. After retiring, Janella and Udell enjoyed the winters in the south.

Survivors include his brothers, Earl Peterson Jr. and his wife Marn, Salem, SD, Gaylord Peterson and his wife Judy, Canon City, CO; also numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors also include his special family, Jake and Phyllis Keffeler, Troy, Brian and Kurt Keffeler. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Janella in 2006.

A memorial has been established to the Meade County Senior Citizens Center.
