Valerie Jean
Meirose
October 25, 1960 – February 7, 2023
Valerie (Sorensen) Meirose passed away after a brief illness on February 7, 2023, in the Sturgis Hospice Unit. Valerie was born on October 25, 1960, in Wagner, South Dakota to Merl Sorensen and Thelma (Hron) Sorensen. The family moved to Sturgis South Dakota when Valerie was very young. Valerie attended Brown High School in Sturgis and graduated in 1978. After high school graduation, she enrolled at Black Hills State College and graduated with an Associated Arts degree in Business in May 1980. Valerie married William (Bill) Meirose in Sturgis, South Dakota on December 29, 1978.
Valerie worked several jobs in the Sturgis area. She was on staff at Believers Fellowship and was a teacher at Believers Fellowship Academy. She, also, was self-employed in the area of home décor items. She retired from working outside of the home in 2011 and devoted herself to being a full time Grandmother. Her pride and joy were her 8 grandchildren, her 3 children, and their spouses. Family was the most important thing in her life outside of her personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Valerie enjoyed the study of her Bible and Scriptures. She was studying Hebrew in order to gain a better understanding of God's Word. Valerie developed many personal relationships over the years that were centered on how to apply the Scriptures to our daily lives. She enjoyed mentoring and developing relationships with other women.
Valerie was preceded in death by both parents. Valerie is survived by her husband of 44 years, William (Bill) Meirose. She is also survived by her three children: Heather (Jeremy) Frankhouser of Ogden, Iowa, Joshua (Nicole) Meirose of Sturgis, Daniel (Michelle) Meirose of Sturgis. Her brothers: David Sorensen (Sheridan, WY), Father Bryan Sorensen (Buffalo, SD), and Kevin Sorensen (Sheridan, WY). She is also survived by the eight most important people in her life, her grandchildren: Landon Meirose, Levi Meirose, Aiden Frankhouser, Derek Frankhouser, Lance Meirose, Kimber Meirose, Kaitlin Meirose, and Ezekiel Meirose.
