Velma Curtis, age 82, Erie, CO, and formerly of Baggs, WY, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013, in Boulder, CO.

Velma Lynn Roth was born to parents, Lela (Derby) and Albert Roth, on June 28, 1930, in New Underwood, SD. She grew up in the Sturgis, SD, area, attending a country school in Haydraw before completing her schooling in Sturgis. Velma married Floyd Curtis on December 24, 1946. Floyd was employed in the oilfield which took the couple to the Newcastle, WY, area, until 1970 when they moved to Baggs, WY. Velma had many jobs throughout her life, but none as important as her job as a mother to five. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment, and greatest joy in life. Velma was an amazing homemaker and cook and a friend to all. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her four sons, Larry Curtis of Newcastle, WY, Lonny Curtis (Martina) of Baggs, WY, Les Curtis (Donna) of Craig, CO, and Wyatt "Butch" Curtis (Craig Carmel) of Erie, CO; daughter, Nettie Cramer (Carl), Hill City, SD; fourteen grandchildren, Carol Garber (Rich), Carl Cramer (Angela), Garrick Cramer (Michela), Lynn Wyllie (Tony), Natasha Cramer Grupe, Mark-Lee Curtis (Traci), Rebecca Kuberry (Ty), Tiffani Roberts (Graham), Tarissa Curtis Gulley, Tatiana LaFond (Clayton), Brendon Curtis (Rebecca), Trisha Curtis, Preston Curtis, and Wyatt Curtis; twenty-three great-grandchildren, Baylie and Angelica Cramer, Hunter and Skylar Wyllie, Andrew, Marcus, and Lucas Cramer, Abbie, and Kiera Grupe, Cooper, and Chase Garber, Josefina, Curtis, and Kaden Kuberry, Tucker, and Parker Curtis, Marie and William Roberts, Isabelle and Alexis Gulley, Abigail and Olivia Curtis, and Logan LaFond; her brother, Jack Roth (Mary) of Fort Morgan, CO; sister, Donna Mae Johnson of Sturgis, SD; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lela and Albert "Butch" Roth; infant brother, Lynn; husband, Floyd; infant daughter, Sheila; brother, Albert "Junior" Roth; daughter-in-law, Judy Curtis; and infant great-grandson, Colin Curtis.

Visitation will be Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
