Velma Yvonne Dobyns, 82, Sturgis, died Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 23, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating. Family and friends may gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.

Velma was born March 6, 1931, at Edison, SD, to Zan and Opal (Wright) Cooper. She grew up and attended school in Sturgis. Velma married William Earl Barr in 1947.

Velma married Roger Miles in Sturgis in 1959. Velma and Roger raised their family in Oregon. She returned to Sturgis in 1980. While in Sturgis, Velma worked at the Fireside, the Ranch House Café, and at Howdy's in Whitewood. Velma married Leonard Dobyns in Sturgis in 1994.

Velma loved to play pool. She also loved to dance, go shopping, and travel.

Survivors include her son, Roger (Michelle) Miles, Barefoot Bay, FL; three daughters, Barbara (Shaun) Griffiths, Toronto, Canada, Elaine Belmonte, Sturgis, and Tina (Mike) Barrie, Belle Fourche, SD; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Abbie Lane McGillivray.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands; and one sister, Edythe Craig.
