Obituary

Vernita M. "Vicky" Tuel, 81, Sturgis, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Dorsett Regional Care Center in Spearfish.

Visitation will be noon until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel with Chaplain Charley Conger officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established.

Vicky was born April 28, 1929 at Highmore, SD, to Herbert and Blanche (Roberts) Hagemann. She grew in country and attended school at Wicksville, SD. She graduated from New Underwood High School. She taught for a couple of years at rural country schools before marrying Edgar A. Fenner at Rapid City, SD, on June 2, 1949. He was employed in construction and the family lived in many communities throughout South Dakota.

After Edgars death on November 6, of 1972, Vicky moved to Sturgis where she worked at the Nursing Home and the Sturgis Vet's Club.

She married Roy Tuel in Nevada on July 6, 1975. She travelled with Roy while he was employed with the Boeing Company. They lived in several states before returning to South Dakota in the early 1980's. Vicky resumed working at the Vet's Club and the Nursing home until her retirement.

Survivors include her sons, Tim Fenner, San Diego, CA, Jim (Tom Kazar) Fenner, Pasadena, CA, Todd Fenner, Buffalo, WY; daughter, Vonda (Mark) Smith, Hayesville, KS; step daughter, Peggy (Chuck) Paul, Seattle, WA; sister, Viola (Larry) Fenner, Spearfish; also 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and both husbands.
