Obituary

Veronica Louise Pesarchic, 81, Sturgis, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.

A rosary will be held Sunday, July 27, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, July 28, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Timothy Castor officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Veronica was born during the great depression in Johnstown, PA, on May 18, 1933, to Francis and Elizabeth (Mindyas) Pesarchic. When she was 3 years old, she was in one of the great Johnstown floods.

She was educated in her home town, the US Army, and Fort Meade (where she worked for 25 years), and the School of Mines.

Veronica spent 2 years in the US Army and walked by faith with the Holy Spirit and our Blessed Mother. She was blessed and inspired to be a workaholic and enjoyed all the jobs sent her way. No matter how hard times were, there was always enough money in her brown teapot to cover all bills and needs.

She was active in her church and taught Catechism for 25 years, was a Eucharistic Minister, a homebound minister, helped with funeral lunches, started St. Patricia Circle, helped with the cookie and candy sale at Christmas, Holy water bottles, welcoming baskets, helped with the dinner for the policemen during the Rally, Monday night Fatima Prayer group, or anything that came up. They were a good group.

Veronica was a welcome committee member on her block and loved to bake, sew, decorate, cook, and most of all, she loved her children and friends. She was well known for helping others, for her sense of humor, and for her smile. Veronica was also very proud that she had written two books.

Survivors include her son, Dennis (Vicki) Clark, Pennsylvania; daughter, Denise (Richard) Deaver, Sturgis; one brother, Franci Pesarchic, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Julie Jenter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.

A memorial has been established for the restoration of St. Martin's Chapel.
