IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Veronica "Ronnie"
Vetter Youngberg
July 28, 1926 – November 16, 2015
Veronica Schaff was born to Pauline Schaff on July 28, 1926, in Odense, North Dakota. When Veronica was 2 ½ years old, her mother married Anton Vetter, and they joined him and his four children on a farm in Selfridge, North Dakota. In 1936, the family moved to Bristol, Nebraska, and later to the Vale area where they worked sugar beets. The family also lived at Nisland and Belle Fourche. When Veronica turned 18, she moved to Belle Fourche to work.
Veronica married John William Youngberg on June 27, 1948, at the Congregational Church in Belle Fourche. They were engaged in farming at Vale until 1951, when they purchased the homestead of John's grandparents (Jackson's) on Horse Creek near Newell. They farmed and raised six children there.
Veronica was involved with the following community groups: Neighborhood Club, Riverside Extension Club, Vale Community Club, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Butte County Historical Society, and the Newell Christian Fellowship Church. She also was a volunteer at the Fort Meade Veterans' Hospital.
Veronica "Ronnie" Youngberg, 89, of Spearfish, and formerly of Newell, died Monday, November 16, 2015, at the David M. Dorsett Health Care Center in Spearfish.
