Victor Albrandt, 74, Whitewood, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at his residence in Whitewood.
Victor was born August 30, 1933 to Fred and Katherine (Meyer) Albrandt at Nisland, SD. He was raised on farms in the Nisland and Vale areas.
He met Elaine Mathison and hired her to drive a tractor during the beet harvest. They were married March 26, 1966 at Whitewood. The couple farmed near Vale.
Victor worked in the woods around the Hills after leaving the farm. In 1973 the family moved to Moses Lake, WA, to work in the U&I Sugar Factory until it closed. Then he worked in the Dayton, OR area for 18 months then moved back to Washington to work for the Columbia Basin Irrigation District at Soap Lake, WA delivering water to farmers until his retirement in 1995. The family moved back to South Dakota and made Whitewood their home.
Survivors include his wife Elaine Albrandt, Whitewood; daughter Debbie and her husband John Shafto, Whitewood, Natalie Albrandt, Atlanta, GA; son Ryan and his wife Jenny Albrandt, Whitewood; five grandchildren, John V. Shafto, Cheyenne Shafto, Elizabeth Albrandt, Andrew Albrandt, Katherine, Albrandt all of Whitewood; brother, Henry and his wife Beulah Albrandt, Rapid City; sister Millie and her husband Bob Ashley, Rapid City; Martha Rheinhardt, Sturgis, Ema Painter, Brush, CO; numerous nieces and nephews in Washington and nieces Suzanne, Rapid City, Marilyn Hayes, Sturgis; nephews David and Rodger Albrandt, Whitewood; sister in law, Betty Albrandt, Whitewood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Whitewood Presbyterian Church in Whitewood with Pastor Steve Agan officiating.
Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
