Obituary

Violet Adell Schieman was born October 28,1948, to Joseph and Betty (Baker) Berney in Mio, MI.

After her father's death Betty moved the family to Marion, OH.

By the 10th grade Violet left school and worked for a few years as an Aide before joining the Navy. She was stationed at the Great Lakes training Center working in a clerical position. That is where she met her husband Roger Schieman in October of 1970. They were married on January 16, 1971 and moved to Sturgis, SD.

On September 22,1973, they became parents to Dawn Marie, and again to Bettyjo on August 17,1975. And on August 17,1987, Violet received a call from her niece and they were blessed for a third time with another daughter, Rebecca Kaye. She always kept her Faith in God and Love for family.

Then in 1994, Violets medical battle began. First with her heart. Then in 1996 her liver was failing. On November 11,1998, she was given another blessing of a new liver. After the passing of her daughter Dawn Marie, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

Violet never faultered from her Faith in God, that He would help her and her family through whatever was thrown at them.

God blessed her with 3 daughters and 3 wonderful grandchildren. Morgan and Wyatt Blakeman and Amora Jenson. She loved watching them grow up and listening to their giggles.

On August 27th she was diagnosed with AML Leukemia and flown to Omaha, NE. She then developed a fatal blood infection. And in her final days it gave her great pleasure spending time with her family. She shared many special moments and laughter about the special memories.

In all her pain she still kept her Faith. Praying for her family to have peace, never asking for herself.

Violet passed away on October 1,2014 at the University of Nebraska in Omaha with her loving husband Roger sitting next to her.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2014, at the First Wesleyan Church in Sturgis with Pastor Don Blaine officiating. Burial with military honors follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established.

Violet is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Berney and Betty Kear; sister Mary Hippensteel; daughter Dawn Marie; and son-in-law Dustin Jenson.

She is survived by her husband Roger Schieman, Sturgis; daughter and son-in-law Bettyjo and Jason Carlson of Harrisburg, SD; daughter and granddaughter Becky and Amora Jenson of Sturgis; son-in-law and grandchildren Jamie, Morgan and Wyatt Blakeman of Sturgis; sister, Barbara, Marion, OH.

Violets faith in God and family were everything to her. She always signed every E-Mail with 3 simple phrases that she believed with all her heart.
