Virgil A. Schultz, 94, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away April 8, 2017.

He was born March 10, 1923, to Dr. F.J. Schultz and Louise (Thum) Schultz in Rock Springs, Wyo. He graduated from Rock Springs High School and entered the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the Battle of the Bulge.

He married Bernice Ochs in 1946 and they enjoyed 70 years of marriage. They had a son, Richard, who preceded him in death.

He retired from Williams Petroleum in Opal, Wyo., in 1984. He built a house in Pinedale, Wyo., where they lived for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid snow skier and was ski-patrol leader in Pinedale.

He is survived by his wife Bernice, granddaughter Lauren, great-granddaughter and brother John.

Virgil is inurned at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.
